With the development of economy and society, people's travel methods have become diverse and very convenient, and even many families have cars, but there are still many people in China who are using motorcycles as a means of transportation.
I believe everyone is no stranger to motorcycles, which are divided into chain drive and drive shaft according to the transmission mode. The most common one should be the chain drive type, and most of the motorcycles on the market are of this type. Today, I will introduce these two types of motorcycles. Transmission shafts have many excellent characteristics: long service life, clean, long maintenance cycle, so why are there few manufacturers such transmission shafts?
First of all, the transmission shaft itself has a heavier structure, and it is also equipped with a complex structure to increase the power burden on the motorcycle itself, and the chain drive is usually used in the car with low transmission power, and it is worth noting that the power of the motorcycle itself is low, so the general motorcycle does not use the transmission shaft. Secondly, it is difficult for the propeller shaft to counteract the impact force on the rear crankset when shifting gears, and it is impossible to change the acceleration of the car by changing the rear crankset. The manufacturer also pointed out the reason: the shaft drive will increase the impact force on the wheels and the engine and the connectors, which will reduce the life of the motorcycle during driving and fail, and in the process of braking, due to the side directionality of the shaft drive, there will be a feeling of "throwing the car", and even prone to car accidents. In the case of chain drives, there are no such concerns.
Finally, it is the reason for energy costs, in fact, the way of the drive shaft is more fuel-intensive, and the displacement on ordinary motorcycles is small, so there may be a situation where the power is not large and cannot be driven. So in some ways, propeller shafts are used on high-end motorcycles. It seems that it is really "cheap and not good", and it depends on the performance of all aspects.
