Common fault causes and elimination methods of transmission shafts

Fault 1, vehicle vibration when the transmission shaft swings or drives:
Fault phenomenon: when the vehicle is driving, it is obvious that the strong periodic vibration of the drive train is transmitted to the car body, and the acceleration is obviously different from sliding, when the vehicle stops, the engine runs at various speeds, and the vibration disappears.
Causes and Troubleshooting:
1. The assembly direction of the universal joint fork is inconsistent. ★ Exclusion Method: Recombination;
2. The transmission shaft is twisted or bent. ★ Exclusion method: repair or replacement;
3. The parts are loose or the dynamic unbalance is large. ★ Exclusion method: repair, balancing or replacement.


Fault 2: Abnormal sound of the transmission shaft:
Fault phenomenon: When the car is driving, it is obvious to hear the abnormal sound of the propeller shaft, especially when changing gears. When the speed is stable, the sound decreases or disappears.
Causes and Troubleshooting:
1. Excessive wear of telescopic splines. ★ Exclusion method: should be replaced;
2. Universal joint bearings are worn, bitten and damaged. ★ Exclusion method: Replace the cross shaft or bearing;
3. The intermediate support bearing is worn or burned out. ★ Exclusion method: replacement of fittings;
4. Loose fasteners. ★ Exclusion method: Re-tightening.


Fault 3: Heating of universal joint or intermediate support bearing:
Fault phenomenon: After the car has traveled for a certain mileage, it is found that the liquefaction of the grease at the middle support bearing drips out of the oil seal, and the parts are hot when touched by hand.
Causes and Troubleshooting:
1. Universal joint bearings or intermediate support bearings lack oil. ★ Exclusion method: grease filling;
2. The middle support bracket is not installed properly. ★ Exclusion method: correct the bracket so that the bearing is perpendicular to the transmission shaft;
3. The oil seal is too tight. ★ Exclusion method: grinding at low speed and oil at the cutting edge;
